Japan to provide 356 million for food assistance in Nepal
Kathmandu, Nov 20 : The government of Japan has agreed to provide grant assistance of 350 million Yen equivalent to about Rs 356 million to Nepal for carrying out food assistance programme. The signing of Exchange of Notes towards this end was held on the witness of the foreign ministers of Nepal and Japan.
Ambassador of Nepal to Japan Prativa Rana and Ambassador of Japan to Nepal Mr Masamichi Saigo on Monday signed on the Exchange of Notes on behalf of their respective governments. The signing ceremony was held after the bilateral meeting between foreign ministers of both countries–Pradeep Kumar Gyawali and Taro Kano– at Ikura House, Tokyo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The assistance aims to support the Government of Nepal to implement the Food Assistance Program to ensure food security to the Nepali people. The assistance from Japan will enable the Government of Nepal to procure rice and supply it to those people in need. (RSS)
