DPM Pokharel and Japanese Ambassador Ogawa meet
Kathmandu, Nov 6 : Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Masashi Ogawa has paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Ishwor Pokharel here today.
Deputy Prime Minister Pokharel, during the meeting held at his office at Singha Durbar, expressed his confidence that the close and cordial ties between Nepal and Japan would grow further intimate in the days ahead.
Pokharel also extended his gratitude on the behalf of the government and people of Nepal to the Japanese government for the support provided to Nepal in its energy, road, transportation, information and technology, among others.
Recalling the significant support from the Japanese government in the post-quake rescue and reconstruction process since the Gorkha Earthquake in 2015, the DPM opined that the disaster management and rescue technique and tools invented by Japan would be useful for disaster-prone country like Nepal.
Japanese envoy to Nepal Ogawa said that Japan and Nepal had friendly ties since a long time and Japan was always positive towards extending cooperation to Nepal for its economic and social development.
The Japanese envoy also reaffirmed the Japanese government’s commitment to continue with its support to Nepal in the realm of disaster management.
He also placed a request with DPM Pokharel for Nepal’s approval for Japan to organize the World Expo in Osaka city in its homeland, read the statement released by Ministry of Defense’s Under-Secretary Manoj Kumar Acharya.(RSS)
