Bhimduttanagar, July 30: The last rites of Nirmala Panta, 13, of Bhimduttanagar Municipality-2 in Kanchanpur district has been performed on the bank of Mahakali River on Monday- four days after her murder.
Panta was murdered on Friday night and the corpse was found in the sugarcane field at Nimbukheda in Bhimduttanagar Municipality-18 on Sunday morning. The postmortem of the dead body was carried out at Mahakali Hospital the same day.
Province lawmaker Prakash Rawal, Mayor of Bhimduttanagar, Surendra Bista, and other people’s representatives attended the funeral cortege.


On the occasion, father of the murdered girl Yubaraj demanded the arrest of the murderers of his daughter. Following the incident, different organizations and civil society members protested in the district, demanding security assurance to the public while the agitators had denied receiving the body of Panta until the murderers were booked.
Meanwhile, a team of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has reached Kanchanpur to probe the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyan Bahadur Seti shared.
A three-member team led by DSP Angur GC arrived in Kanchanpur to probe the incident. It has begun the works by coordinating with the district police.
