Kathmandu, Jan 19 : Tejnath Sharma Ghimire, a famous spiritual guru known by the nickname Nepali Baba, passed away on Monday night. He was 69.Suffering from ortho-related problems for the past two years, he died at Satungal-based ashram. He had survived only on tea and water for the past 45 years. A nine-storey shelter along with Bindhyabasini Temple is under construction at 33 ropanis of land under leadership of Ghimire in Satungal.

He had organised a religious function (Mahayagya) for a month as per Vedic rituals, wishing and praying for world peace at Bindhyabasini before 2043 BS during the time of the cold war in the world. Former Chairperson of Bindhyabasini Meditation Association, Keshav Prasad Chaulagain, told Rastriya Samachar Samiti that the Nepali Baba had significant contribution in World Peace Campaign.

The Nepali Baba also travelled on foot from Muktinath, a famous pilgrimage site in the Himalayan district of Mustang to Kanyakumari in the southernmost tip of India in 2048 BS and also back to Nepal from there.His last rites were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat this morning. He is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.
