Kathmandu, Oct 21ः The Nepal Medical Council (NMC) has determined the number of seats for Bachelor of Medicines, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) under the medical education. The Council has determined new seats for medical colleges for the new academic calendar 2076/77 BS at the special request of Medical Education Commission.

The NMC has determined the number of seats for medical colleges affiliated to the Kathmandu University, Patan Academy of Health Sciences and BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS).
According to the NMC, BPKIHS Dharan has obtained 100 seats n MBBS and 50 in BDS, Patan has 65 in MBBS, Kathmandu School of Medicines Dhulikhel has 85 in MBBS and 50 in BDS and Noble Medical College has 100 in MBBS and 35 in BDS.

Likewise, Birat Medical College has obtained 75 seats in MBBS, Kathmandu Medical College has 100 in MBBS and 50 in BDS, Nepal Medical College has 100 in MBBS and 50 in BDS, College of Medical Sciences has 100 in MBBS and 50 in BDS and Lumbini Medical College has 100 in MBBS. Nepalgunj Medical College has 100 in MBBS, Manipal Medical College has 100 in MBBS, Devdaha Medical College has 50 in MBBS and Kantipur Dental College has 50 in BDS, the NMC shared.

New fee structure determined

The Medical Education Commission has determined new fee structures for Bachelor’s level medical education. The Commission’s meeting on 18 September and 17 October 2019 had determined different fee structures for MBBS and BDS for the fiscal year 2076/77 BS.

As per the decision, the fee for pursuing MBBS within the Valley is roughly Rs 4.02 million and Rs 4.43 million outside Valley. Likewise, Rs 2.01 million is determined as fee for study on BDS in and outside the Valley, stated in a press release issued by the Commission.
