Kathmandu, Oct 12 (RSS) President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping has been warmly welcomed on a two-day state visit to Nepal. Civil servants, security personnel and the general public had gathered in large numbers to welcome President Xi as he landed at Tribhuvan International Airport and drove to Soltee Hotel.

People carrying national flags of both countries were waiting along the roadside since 4:00 pm to welcome the Chinese President, who landed at the TIA at 4:45 pm. People had gathered at various thoroughfares including Tinkune, New Baneshwor, Babarmahal, Maitighar Mandala, Thapathali, Tripureshwor, Kalimati and Soltimode to welcome the Chinese President.

The road in Kathmandu has been decorated by putting up welcome banners displaying the culture of Nepal while various welcome gates with the portraits of President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Chinese President Xi Jinping were installed at different spots along the road used by President Xi’s carcade.

Likewise, flower plants and flower pots were kept at the Airport, Tinkune, Naya Baneshwar, Maitighar, Thapathali among others places for welcoming the Chinese dignitary. The roads were emptied as soon as the President Xi’s special aircraft touched down the Tribhuvan International Airport at 4:45 pm.

Civil servants, youths, students and the members of the general public, with the national flags of Nepal and China in their hands, had lined up along the road to welcome the Chinese dignitary. They were seemingly agog to receive the Chinese President to their country which was hosting a Chinese President after a long gap of 23 years. They welcomed him with cheer and applause as he drove past.

People of different communities donning their traditional costumes had assembled at various places along the route and the troupe of artists had played traditional musical instruments in various thoroughfares to welcome the Chinese VVIP guest.

At the friendly invitation of President Bidya Devi Bhandari, President Xi is in Nepal for a two-day state visit beginning today. Welcome gates had banners with slogans written in Nepali, English and Chinese languages such as “Welcome to the Chinese Delegation to the Land of Buddha and Sagarmatha’, and ‘Nepal-China Friendship stands as tall as Sagarmatha’.
