Damauli, March 21: The construction of 33-11 KV Sarangghat substation based in Bandipur Rural Municiplaity-6, Sarangghat of Tanahun has been completed. The substation was constructed under the Social Development Programme of the 140-MW Tanahun Hydropower Project being constructed by Tanahun Hydropower Ltd, a subsidiary of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

The transmission lines and substation that were constructed through ‘Tanahun Rural Electrification and Distribution Networking Improvement Project’ implemented by NEA’s Project Management Directorate were brought into operation. Likewise, the 33-KV transmission line from Marki Chowk Substation based in Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality to Dumre of Bandipur Rural Municipality has been tapped. As informed, the construction of 19-km long 33-KV line has been completed to tap the transmission line at Bandipur, Yampaphant to reach it to the Sarangghat substation.

Out of this, 1,100 meter transmission line has been under grounded. The substation and transmission lines were constructed to expand electrification in the project-affected areas of Tanahun district and ensure power supply adequate, reliable and quality. For the construction of two substations and electrification in Tanahun, a contract was awarded to the East India Industry Waiba Info-tech JV in November 2018.

The project with an estimated cost of around eight million US Dollars was implemented with investment of NEA and subsidy loan of the ADB. Inaugurating the substation amidst a programme on Monday, NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising said power supply would be made to all the households having no electricity access within two years. “We are in the final mile journey of electrification to realize the goal of Nepal government to ensure access power to the households of all Nepali people. Most of the contracts have been completed to that end”, he noted.
