NC demands action against Prasai in Parliament
Kathmandu, July 29: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) registered a motion of public importance demanding action against medical entrepreneur Durga Prasad Prasai for his derogatory remarks on an issue related to the Nepali female students in Bangladesh.
NC registered the proposal at the Federal Parliament Secretariat today seeking deliberations on the issue in accordance with the Rule 71 of the House of Representatives Regulation- 2075. Seconded by lawmakers Laxmi Pariyar and Pramila Rai, NC parliamentarian Dila Sangraula registered the motion demanding an immediate legal action against Prasai who serves as the Dxecutive Director of the B&B Medical College in Jhapa,.
Furthermore, the NC claimed that the Prasai’s remarks towards Nepali female students pursuing MBBS in Bangladesh had violated the laws and constitution as well as tarnished the image and prestige of Nepali students there.
Stating that such remarks could mar the bilateral relations between Nepal and Bangladesh, the lawmakers registering the motion argued that the move was made acknowledging the need to safeguard the Nepali women, students and citizens’ dignity and bring to book the culprit abiding by the laws and constitution.
