Kathmandu, July 23 : Sudip Raj Panta has been unopposed elected President of the Nepal America Journalists’ Association (NEAJA). The sixth Convention of the NEAJA, which concluded on Sunday in Seattle on the west coast of Washington, D.C. in the United States of America, picked Panta for the next two years.
Likewise, Bikash Raj Neupane has been picked as Vice President, while Kiran Marahatta General Secretary, Suraj Bhandari Secretary and Matchhe Devi Gurung Treasurer.

Similarly, those elected to the post of regional coordinator are Kalpana Ghimire from the east region, Lila Devi Ojha from DC Virginia Metro Area, Ram Chandra Bhatta from the central area and Gokul Prasad Dhakal from the western area. Dinesh Adhikari, Sher Bahadur KC and Baburam Kharel have been chosen as members.


The first meeting of NEAJA’s working committee has decided to elect NEAJA’s former Secretary Agni Prasad Chaulagain as NEAJA’s member, said Marahatta, newly elected NEAJA’s General Secretary. Founded in April, 2007, the NEAJA is a not-for -profit organisation dedicated to unite and foster the ever growing number of Nepali journalists in North America. The NEAJA also decided to provide ‘the Rural Journalism Award, 2018’ to journalist Kumbha Raj Rai. Rai is Okhandhunga-based correspondent of Kantipur Daily in Nepal. Established by the NEAJA as per the memorandum of understanding reached in 2013 between the NEAJA and the Federation of Nepali Journalists, the Award carries a purse of Rs 222,222.
