Kathmandu, Feb 26: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has called a meeting of its Central Committee for tomorrow, Monday, to discuss various topics including preparations for the by-election to be held in Chitwan constituency-2 on April 23 this year. The meeting will take place at the party office at Basundhara. The changed political equation, the President election and the by-election in Chitwan constituency-2 would discussed in the meeting, RSP Vice-Chair Dol Prasad Aryal said.

The seven-party alliance that was forged on December 25 in connection with the formation of the present government has broken and a new eight-party alliance has been formed for the Presidential election. The RSP had supported and also joined the CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’- led government.

It left the government on February 5. The party has however not withdrawn its support to the government so far. RSP has neither proposed nor seconded the Nepali Congress or UML candidate for the Presidential election. It is said the party will take a clear policy from the Central Committee meeting on this topic.
