Saurya Air plane crashes at TIA, Pilot rescued, rushed to hospital
24 July, Kathmandu : A Pokhara-bound Saurya Airlines aircraft has met with an accident today. The plane crashed shortly after taking off from the runway, at around 11:00 AM today in Tribhuvan International Airport.
The aircraft carrying 19 passengers including crew members skidded off the runway and fire broke out suddenly.
Security personnel of all three security agencies have been mobilized to douse fire at present, said Gaurav Kumar KC, Spokesperson of the Nepali Army. Following the crash, smoke was seen coming from the plane. Firefighters and security personnel, including Nepal Police and Nepal Army, have been deployed to the crash site and are currently trying to control the situation.
Meanwhile, the captain of the plane, 37-year-old Manish Shakya, was rescued from the wreckage and taken to KMC Hospital for treatment, according to the police.
