Tourism entrepreneur Pokhrel paid tribute
Kathmandu, Aug 4 : A programme was held here today to pay tribute to senior tourism entrepreneur Tekchandra Pokhrel on the 13th day of his demise. The programme was jointly organised by six organisations related to tourism business and supported by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). Pokhrel who was the founding chair of Himalaya Rescue Associations had his leading role in other various tourism related organisations.
The participations of the programme remembered him as the leading figure in the field of tourism, underlining the need of taking aspirations from his contributions and translating such inspirations into action to further boost up the domestic tourism sector.
NTB Chief Executive Officer, Deepak Raj Joshi, described Pokhrel as an inspiring personality in the field. He was a compelling speaker.
Trekking Agencies of Association of Nepal (TAAN) Chair Nawaraj Dahal, Nepal Association of Travel and Tour Agents (NATTA) Chair CN Pandey, Nepal Mountaineering Association’s Santa Bir Lama calling him as the “epitome” of the tourism field termed his demise as a big loss to the field. Pokhrel had succumbed to lung cancer on July 23. He was 84.
As stated by NATTA General Secretary Ramesh Thapa, Pokhrel had his long career of around five decades in tourism and headed the organisaiton for 15 years.
