Rasuwa, July 29 : It has been almost a decade the people from Jibajibe village in southern belt of Rasuwa are fighting a recurring landslide, but authorities concerned are least concerned.
A landslip that occurs during every monsoon at Jibajibe along the feeder road leading to the Pasang Lhamu Highway poses risk to the commuters.
The villages that have suffered worst from the disaster are Jibjibe, Jyanglang, Chitti, Badahare, Khalchet and Betang. It has been increasingly difficult to transport patients to a hospital through this way due to the landslide, said local social worker Bishnu Prasad Poudel.
Students have also been bearing the brunt. “The landslide is constantly haunting us. We fear a person who walks from the house may not return safely in the evening due to the landslide,” he said. When asked, the Jibajibe Rural Municipality blames lack of budget for failure to control the disaster. The landslide erodes the places from Prangsede to the end of Dhobikhola, and an estimated Rs 50 million is expected to stem the disaster, said Poudel.
Similarly, continuous rains obstructed the rural agricultural road from Parikharka to Thulogaun.
Also, construction of a road at Haku area in Aamachhodingmo Rural Municipality has come to a halt due to incessant rains, said the Municipality.
Approximately Rs 10 million has been released to open around 10 kilometers track, and 50 percent of the construction has been complete, said the Municipality’s Chairperson Buchung Tamang. The project will link Hakubesi with Thulohaku.(RSS)
