Over 1,400 children at risk
Jajarkot, July 17: As many as 1,400 children are living in vulnerable situation in Jajarkot, a data reveals.
Women and Children Office, Jajarkot made public the data collected from seven local levels of the district on Monday.
Girl children are found more vulnerable than the boys in the district.
In-charge of Women and Children Office, Shakuntala Acharya shared that 674 male children and 695 girl children have been surviving in vulnerable condition.
Though a large number of children have passed through a wretched condition, the local government is turning deaf to the problem.
The children at-risk are defined to be orphan, street children and those having poor economic condition of family.
There is high chance that the number of children at risk can go up as data collection is yet to be done in all wards, shared the Women and Children Office.
Some 34 children were rescued this year, the office source added.
Various stakeholders have accused the local government of not allocating any budget for education, food and shelter targeting vulnerable children in the district.
