Formation of Alumni Forum in Tribhuvan University’s Journalism Department

April 4, Kathmandu. A gathering of former students who studied in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication under Tribhuvan University formed the Alumni Forum today.

The meeting, convened in the presence of Prof. Chiranjeevi Khanal, the department head, established an ad hoc committee chaired by Madhav Prasad Tiwari. Leela Bhattarai was appointed as the vice president, Shanta Ram Bidari as the secretary, and Poornima Parajuli as the treasurer. Among the members are Lokendra KC, Helima Rai, Baburam Timalsina, Sunil Paudel, Praveen Pokharel, Kumar Singh Bista, Sougat Mishra, Somprasad Dotel, and Santoga Rokaya.

Earlier, during the gathering of former students, alongside department head Khanal, a working group was formed, including Vice Professors Dr. Jagat Nepal, Madhav Prasad Tiwari, and Leela Bhattarai. Based on the suggestions of this working group, the meeting of former students held at the Central Department on Thursday decided to establish the Alumni.

Prof. Khanal mentioned during the gathering that alumni who have studied journalism are working in various media outlets both domestically and internationally. The university has been offering post-graduate courses in Journalism and Mass Communication since 2058, Vidyavaridhi since 2067, and Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy levels since 2074.
