Ten Lakh bribe to the manager for taking a loan of one crore from SBI Bank!
Kathmandu, Aug 30: A fact has come out that when taking a loan of 1 crore in Nepal SBI Bank, which is an investment of State Bank of India, the manager was given a bribe of 1 lakh. Kedarnath Sharma, the owner of Earth News HD Television, who was arrested and detained from India while fleeing after being cheated out of 12 billion, made this fact public. Sharma disclosed this fact during a speech at the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police.
Police arrested Sharma from India and brought him to Nepal, who was doing business by establishing about 40 companies by forming the Shikhar Organization. During the investigation, Sharma told the police that while taking a loan of 900 million rupees from SBI Bank, he paid a bribe of 90 million rupees to the manager of the bank. Sources in the bureau said that Sharma had paid bribes as commission at the rate of one crore one lakh rupees.
Sharma handed over the bribe amount to Manoj Gautam, manager of SBI Bank. He has mentioned in the statement that the bribe was given through Pushkar Mall, the managing member of Shivshikhar Cooperative. Sharma has also said that he deposited 89 lakh 13 thousand rupees in Malla’s personal account for the purpose of bribe. According to Sharma in his speech, Gautam, the manager of the bank, took 40 lakh rupees through the mall and 50 lakh rupees with Sharma.
It is similar to OpenSecret that bank managers take bribes of 1 to 5 percent as commission while making loan investments. Because of this, only a limited class and individuals are getting loans from banks. According to police sources, Gautam, who was accused of accepting a bribe of 9 million rupees, met with Sharma, who is in custody, and asked him not to bring up such a matter and to correct it in his statement in court.
When Dainiki contacted the Chief Information Officer of SBI Bank, Ritesh Aryal, he said that they also got the information on Monday. He said that a part of Sharma’s speech was related to SBI Bank and that the bank has started an investigation to see what happened internally. He said that there will be a necessary investigation into the bank manager’s involvement and the process has already started.
