Visiting British MP Sharma meets with NA Chair Timilsina

Kathmandu, March 20: Visiting member of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, Virendra Sharma, met with Chairperson of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar today. Sharma is also chairperson of the British-Nepal All-Party Parliamentary Group. During the meeting, the duo shared experiences of the parliamentary practices of both the countries, it has been said. On the occasion, NA Chair Timilsina praised the British government for its assistances for the development of Nepal.

Stating that he officially sent an invitation letter to the Speaker of the British parliament for a Nepal visit, he said he wanted to welcome the British Speaker as a chief guest for an official event to be organised here in Nepal to mark the 107th year of peace and friendly treaty reached between Nepal and the UK. He also urged the initiatives to remove an operating ban on the Nepalese airlines within the European Union, and operate a direct Nepal-UK flight.

Likewise, he touched on the issues of problems facing the British Gurkhas, tourism promotion, British investment in infrastructure, skill enhancement, and the management of scholarships to Nepali students, and sought the UK assistances in this regard. In return, Sharma said a high level Nepal visit from the British government would take place soon.
