The government backtracked after UML’s warning: the decision to continue the subsidy of chemical fertilizers
Kathmandu, March 20: After the warning of CPN-UML, the government has backed down from the decision to cut the subsidy given to chemical fertilizers. The government has stopped the decision made by the thematic committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and has decided to keep the subsidy given to chemical fertilizers. This morning, the meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, Sinha Darbar, decided to keep the subsidy given to chemical fertilizers as it is without reducing it.
On Sunday, CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel warned the government to correct the decision. Government Spokesperson and Minister of Communication, Information and Technology Rekha Sharma informed that after a detailed study, the meeting decided to make it more systematic and scientific after a detailed study. Earlier, the Fertilizer Supply and Distribution Management Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development had decided to cut the subsidy given to chemical fertilizers. After today’s cabinet meeting, the subsidy and price of chemical fertilizers will also remain the same.
