Journalist Darnal bags ‘Child Sensitive National Journalist Award, 2018’
Kathmandu, June 14 : Journalist Sushil Darnal has bagged ‘the Child Sensitive National Journalism Award, 2018’.
Darnal, who is associated with Rastriya Samachar Samiti, was honoured for his contribution to the area of children. Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen Thammaya Thapa presented the award to Darnal amid a programme here today. Established by the Federation of Nepali Journalists in collaboration with the Central Child Welfare Committee, the award carries a purse of Rs 25,000.
Other journalists who were honoured with the award include Ramesh Dulal (Radio Kantipur) from Kathmandu valley, Man Kumari Pulami (Radio Siddhababa-Sindhuli), Nimendra Shahi (Rajdhani Daily), Renuka Acharya (Nepal Forum of Environment Journalists), Amrita Anamol (Kantipur), Durga Karki (NEFEJ) and Geeta Chimoriya (CIN).
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000 each. Likewise, ‘the Adventure Journalist Women Award, 2018’ has been given to journalists Rosha Basnet, Priya Laxmi Karki, Kalpana Maharjan, Rojita Buddhacharya, Dolma Sherpa, Purnima Shrestha and Deurali Chamling. They have recently climbed Sagarmatha (Mount Everest). Basnet is associated with RSS. The award carries a purse of Rs 120,000.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Thapa stressed the need for media to prioritise news also about women, children, senior citizen and those from backward community.(RSS)
