Construction of new physical infrastructure prohibited in Dharahara premises
Kathmandu, May 10: An understanding has been reached between the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) and Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) not to allow construction of new physical infrastructure in Dharahara premises.
A joint meeting of bodies concerned including NRA, KMC, and Department of Archeology, and Guthi Sansthan held under coordination of NRA Chief Executive Officer, Yubraj Bhusal, at Singha Darbar, took the decision in this regard.
The meeting decided to stop the under-construction infrastructures in Dharahara premises until next notice.
On the occasion, CEO Bhusal said that the meeting also directed the Guthui Sansthan to cancel the contract if it has given its land on lease. In response, acting Chief of Guthi Sansthan Deepak Bahadur Pandey expressed the view that the Sansthan should get to utilize its land.
Similarly, an agreement has been reached to vacate the shutters in Dharahara premises within 15 days. Joint-Secretary of NRA, Rajuman Manandhar, said that the meeting also took the decision to request the government offices under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Nepal Rastra Bank to shift their offices.
Present on the occasion were KMC Mayor, Bidya Sundar Shakya, Chief Executive Officer Yadav Koirala, NRA office-bearers, Chief District Officer Kedarnath Sharma, Department of Archeology, Director General Bhesh Narayan Dahal, among others. (RSS)
