Ansari said “Investment in higher level education for girls empowerment”

July 12. The five days “Leadership Training on Sakchhin Chhori” was conducted by Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN) with the support of KANALLAN to peer educators from July 6 to July 10, 2019 at Sauraha, Chitawan. There was participation 30 participants who are selected as peer educators from government schools and college of Nawalpur and there was also participation of teachers in the training who were representing their school with their students. The training was facilitated by Mr. Niraj Neupane, Mr. Deepak Bashyal, Ms. Vidhya Bista, Ms. Shraddha Verma and Mr. Deepak Sharma.

Ms. Kusum KC, Program Coordinator of JCYCN shared, “The objective of Leadership Training on Sakchhin Chhori is to empower young girls physically, mentally, socially, and legally with International and National legal provisions as well as internalize their hidden potential and boost of their skills”. The training focus on self-realization and internalization of daily activities, performance, discuss on attitude and behavior as well as taking action from the individual level to solve own problem and become visionary.

Hon’ble Mohona Ansari, member of Human Right Commission said, “Higher level Education to girls must be vital to empower young girls for all prospective including boost up their skills, identify their potential, know their interest from family, society and state.” Similarly, Mr. Mahendra Poudyal, Local Educational Officer of Khairahani Municipality, Chitwan said that to empower the girls,there should be engagement of girls in the sports.

In the program, there was presence of Mrs. Parbata Tiwari, Deputy Mayor of Devchuli Municipality, Mr. Hom Nath Jaisi, Patron of JCYCN, Mrs. Maya Subedi, Mrs. Nabakumari Sharma, and Mrs. Subochandra Subedi, local representatives of Devchuli municipality as well as advisor team of JCYCN. With local representative, there was interaction on ending an early marriage, menstrual hygiene, girls in sports, girls counseling program.

In the program, One of the participants named Ms. Rejina Gharti Magar shared about the self defense practice which helps to defend from any forms of uncomfortable circumstances such as while speaking in front of mass, escape from violence, harassment, and rape, and abuse. Similarly, another participant named Ms. Aasha BK shared that she has learned about self defending skills which are very much useful in the daily life and its effective utilization to take initiation and team work.

Similarly, Mr. Tilottam Paudel, president of JCYCN also shared his keyword on the girl’s empowerment program, its necessity to explore the girls potential, identity. He shared that the JCYCN has been working in the Nawalpur for girl empowerment from regional as well as national level since a decade. He added that there should be the necessity to increase local coordination and collaboration for creating girls friendly Devchuli municipality.
