Equal access of all citizens to health, education: Prachanda
Chitwan, April 8 : CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said all citizens should get right to education and health in an equal manner since the twin issues are the fundamental rights.
Addressing the 55th anniversary of Bharatpur Hospital on Sunday, he said common people’s access to education and health should be ensured as the constitution has inscribed health and education as the fundamental rights.
The former prime minister said, “Our goal is prosperity along with self-respect besides infrastructure.”
Saying that the people are disgusted even though some nations have progressed in infrastructures, Dahal argued only infrastructure does not bring prosperity.
He was of the view that education and health should be ensured to the common people for their life with dignity and added that Nepalis are humiliated abroad for being the citizens of the poor country.
The State should ensure facilities to the medical practitioners and officials working in the health sector so that their concentration would be to the institutions they are affiliated with, he added.
According to Prachanda, research centre on health should be developed in Bharatpur Hospital in the context that Chitwan was being established as a ‘medical city’.
On the occasion, former health minister Gagan Kumar Thapa, province assembly member Bijay Subedi, politicians Tejendra Khadka, Jit Narayan Shrestha, Ishwori Bhattarai and others praised the hospital management for better performance in the recent times.
On the occasion, Dahal inaugurated the CT SCAN, Hemo Dialysis Centre, Oxygen Production Home and OPD Service Buildings.
