MPs draw attention to ‘failure’ to release second tranche of housing grant

Kathmandu, April 3: Members of Parliament have drawn the attention of the government to ‘failure’ to release the second tranche of housing grant to victims of earthquake of April 2015.
It has been almost three years since the tragedy occurred, killing nearly 9,000 people and injuring around 22,000. They expressed their concerns with this issue at today’s Parliament meeting.
Taking a special time from the Speaker, CPN (UML) leader Birodh Khatiwada demanded an accommodation for the quake victims at the earliest.
Likewise, Nepali Congress leader Jip Chhiring Lama demanded that the second tranche of the grant be released soon.

UML’s Ganesh Singh Thagunna suggested that PM’s upcoming India visit should focus on issues about opening border points with India and China.
CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Pampha Bhusal complained that a design made for the Kathmandu-Tarai Fast Track would affect archeological sites at Khokana and Bungmati in Lalitpur, and compensation valuation for losses in the course of the project construction was very low.
Prem Suwal of the Nepal Workers Peasants Party called for parliamentary investigations into the issue relating to country’s dismal economy as shown in the white paper issued recently by Finance Minister. The Parliament meeting is on.(RSS)
