APF Club and Agni Group Conclude First ‘APF Mahindra Sports Award 2081’, Honouring Players for Outstanding Performance in Sports
11 April, Kathmandu. The first ‘APF Mahindra Sports Award 2081’ ceremony has been successfully concluded under the collaboration between the Nepal APF Club, a unit of the Armed Police Force of Nepal, and Agni Incorporated Private Limited. The event, held on Friday at the Krishna Mohan Smriti Building in Nepal APF Club, Halchowk, Kathmandu, honoured athletes and other sports personalities who have made significant contributions to the organisation and nation by showcasing exceptional performances in sports.
The event witnessed a grand presence of media personnel, players, and distinguished guests. Among the distinguished guests were Honourable Home Minister Mr. Ramesh Lekhak, Member Secretary of the National Sports Council Mr. Tanka Lal Ghising, Inspector General of Armed Police Force (APF) Mr. Raju Aryal, Inspector General of Nepal Police Mr. Dipak Thapa, Chairperson of the Armed Police Family Women’s Association Mrs. Anita Lamichhane Aryal, Chairman of Agni Group Mr. Cabinet Shrestha, Managing Director of Agni Group Mrs. Susan Vaidya Shrestha, Executive Director of Agni Group Mr. Arjun Prasad Sharma, Country Head for Mahindra & Mahindra in Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh Mr. Chaitanya Kagalkar, Vice President of Agni Group Ms. Veda Satasha Shrestha, and Head of Research and Development at Agni Group Mr. Vedant Shrestha.
Addressing the event, Executive Director of Agni Group, Mr. Arjun Prasad Sharma, said, “Agni Group and the APF Club have organised an award to encourage athletes in Nepal’s sports sector. Through this award, our aim is to recognise and honour players and sports personalities who have delivered exceptional performances and made remarkable contributions to the pride of the nation. Starting this year, we are committed to continuing this platform in the years to come to identify and celebrate outstanding athletes.”
The awards honoured top players from various categories. The Honourable Home Minister presented the title of ‘APF Mahindra Player of the Year 2081 – Female’, along with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 to Football Player Renuka Nagarkoti, and the ‘APF Mahindra Player of the Year 2081 – Male’, along with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 to Badminton Player Prince Dahal. Similarly, the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports handed over the title and certificate for ‘Most Popular APF Mahindra Player of the Year 2081 – Male’, along with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 to Karate Player Mohammad Sekhu Alam, while the Honourable Chief Minister of Bagmati Province presented the title and certificate for ‘Most Popular APF Mahindra Player of the Year 2081 – Female’, along with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 to Football Player Preeti Rai. The title ‘APF Mahindra Team of the Year 2081’ along with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 was awarded to APF Women’s Football Team. The ‘APF Coach of the Year 2081 – Male’ and ‘APF Coach of the Year 2081 – Female’ awards, along with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 each, were conferred upon Football Coach Jibesh Kumar Pandey and Karate Coach Ganga Devi Adhikari, respectively. Likewise, the ‘APF Mahindra Young Player of the Year 2081 – Male’ and ‘APF Mahindra Young Player of the Year 2081 – Female’, along with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 each, awards were presented to U-16 Football Players Tenzing Sherpa and Sabitri Kishan, respectively. Inspector General of Armed Police Force Mr. Raju Aryal presented the ‘APF IGP Commendation’ certificates to former coaches and players of Nepal APF Club. Additionally, tokens of appreciation and certificates were handed to individuals and organisations who contributed their support. All honoured athletes received a certificate of recognition and a token of appreciation.
This award ceremony, organised by APF Club for the first time, aims to encourage athletes and contribute to the development of Nepalese sports by recognising and supporting exceptional talent. Agni Group, through its sponsorship and collaborations, has played a significant role in the development and promotion of Nepali sports.
