Fire engulfs circuit breaker of power house; two injured
Kathmandu, Nov 24: A fire broke out at the circuit breaker of Nepal Electricity Authority’s Trishuli Hydropower project. The inferno that occurred at around 3.45 this afternoon left two persons injured and disrupted the operation of the 21-MW Trishuli Hydropower and its cascade 14-MW Devighat Hydropower. The obstruction has resulted in reduction of 30 MW electricity in the national transmission system.
The injured are supervisor Gunjaman Tamang and engineer Praveen Chaudhary, said Chief of Trishuli Hydropower House, Tara Dutta Bhatta. The injured were airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment through Nepal’s Army’s chopper. Injured Tamang is said to be in critical condition.
NEA Spokesperson Prabal Adhikari said that investigation into the incident was taking place to establish the reason behind the incident. With the closure of energy generation, some of the areas of Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Dhading have seen disruption of power supply.
Adhikari said that the electricity supply will be arranged in the areas seeing power disruption through alterative measures soon.
