NAC restores service on Suketar-Kathmandu route after three months, fare reduced

Taplejung, Sept 4: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has resumed its services in Suketar-Kathmandu route after a three-month suspension. The NAC flight to Taplejung, a mountainous district in Koshi Province, had remained halted since June 7 due to adverse weather conditions during the monsoon season. Sachin Tiwari, the chief of Suketar airport, confirmed that flights have been regularised since Monday. The NAC aircraft first landed in Suketar after three months, carrying six passengers from Kathmandu and returned with one passenger on board.

According to the flight schedule, NAC will now provide services on the Kathmandu-Suketar route thrice a week, on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays as before. Suketar airport, situated at an elevation of around 1,800 meters, frequently experiences visibility issues during the rainy season. Moreover, the NAC has revised its transport fare. The fare for the Kathmandu-Taplejung route has been reduced to Rs 8,600 per flight from the previous rate of Rs 9,653. Similarly, the fare from Taplejung to Kathmandu has been reduced to Rs 8,400 from the previous Rs 9,453. With the improvement in weather conditions and the onset of the festive season, the airport expects the continuity of flights and no shortage of passengers.
