DPM Shrestha offers thankfulness to RoK for its support to Cyber Bureau

Kathmandu, Aug 29: Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (RoK) to Nepal, Park Taeyoung, paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha. During the meeting held at the Home Ministry today, they discussed the bilateral relations and cooperation between Nepal and Korea. On the occasion, DPM Shrestha said South Korea is the important development partner of Nepal and extended gratitude towards South Korea for its support in building Nepal Police Cyber Bureau and its capacity development through the Korean International Cooperation Agency.

He further said that qualitative socio-economic development was the main focus of Nepal and foreign investment would be important for it. The Deputy Prime Minister mentioned that investment-friendly environment and basis are created in Nepal to promote foreign direct investment in Nepal, adding Nepal has expected continuous support and cooperation of Korea as Nepal is going to be upgraded from least developed country in 2026.

Extending gratitude to South Korea for providing employment to many Nepali people through Employment Permit System (EPS), he urged the Korean Ambassador to think towards the possibility of increasing Nepal’s quota for the programme. Number of South Korean tourists visiting Nepal would be remarkably increased, people to people relation would be further strengthened and a message of peace and harmony would be disseminated if direct air flight contact between Kathmandu and Seoul would be established, viewed Home Minister Shrestha.

Similarly, the Ambassador said peace, people to people relation and prosperity are the basis of Nepal-South Korea relations. South Korea has been recruiting the highest number of Nepali workers under EPS as compared to other countries and providing social security like South Korean workers, mentioned Ambassador Park. Stating that South Korea is the fourth biggest investor in Nepal, he assured that South Korean Companies including Samsung would expand their industries in Nepal in coming days.
