Budhanilkanth School in the swamp of corruption: Indifference of the authorities in the investigation
Kathmandu, Aug 28 : It has come out that there is corruption in admission in Budhanilkanth School, which is considered as the model government school of the country. The headmaster of the school was accused of violating the merit list in financial transactions, this time some facts have been made public to confirm the allegations. In Budhanilkanth, which offers non-residential studies, the fees are more expensive than private schools, but the attraction of parents has been there.
The subject of financial transactions also came out after the school admitted students in an irregular manner in the entrance examination to be conducted at the beginning of the new academic session. The members of the school management committee also say that the principal Homanath Acharya works in a balance of both money and power. Principal Acharya has taken the admission by changing the name of the students who participated in the entrance examination for admission to class 5.
When Dainiki was interested in this matter with the Principal Acharya, he said that he used his authority to do such a thing. Acharya said, “I am the headmaster of Budhanilkanth School” when asked by Dainiki whether there is an allegation that you have accepted a bribe of lakhs of rupees in the admission of a student. Admission is my right. There is nothing that others can say about what I have done.” Acharya sent a request to stop the news through various Shakti Kendras shortly after Dainiki’s question.
He has now started running to power centers to avoid prosecution. Because of Acharya, this time three scholarship quotas have been canceled in the school. A total of 136 students are enrolled in one class every year in Budanilkanth School. In this way, 42 scholarship students and 94 fee-paying students are taken. This year instead of 94, 97 people have been admitted by paying fees. Which has canceled 3 scholarship places. Out of 42 scholarships, 2 local residents of Budanilkanth Municipality received only 1 passed.
The list of students who were ready for admission after paying regular fees was cut and students were admitted by taking bribes from thieves in an arbitrary manner. A member of the management committee informed Dainiki that employees of the Ministry of Education were also involved in the distribution of bribes in this case. Before this, the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission is also investigating. It is understood that one of the students who were accused of being admitted by Acharya by taking a bribe, had a fake certificate from a school in Sunsari.
His age has also been reduced in the said certificate. The Ministry of Education is also investigating the corruption committed by Acharya during his admission. The government has also given an annual subsidy of 60 million rupees for Budhanilkanth School. Parents have alleged that Acharya has been collecting money by making irregular admissions since a few years ago.
Parents have said that the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission should investigate the irregularities he has committed in three years. Some people have alleged that there is a reluctance to proceed with the action process in the complaint received by the authority and the officials of the ministry have also been affected.
