‘Mahaarti’ promoting religious tourism
Rajha, 21 Feb: The weekly ‘Mahaarti’ started at Bageshwari temple in Nepalganj has promoted religious tourism. Devotees flock to participate in the Mahaarti held every Monday. Devotees from far and wide voluntarily participate in the Mahaarti, including the residents of Nepalgunj.
According to the Bageshwari Guthi Management Committee, the largest number of devotees visited the Bageshwari temple on Monday for the fourth Mahaarti . Chandannath Yogi, the original mahant of Bageshwari temple, says that Mahaarti is performed according to the religious tradition after chanting the Baidhikmantra by a Pandit or Batuk and offering prayers with sankalpa.
According to him, in the Mahaarti, three pandits turn to the four directions and complete the rituals of the aarti and after the evening aarti they also perform bhajankirtan. There is a religious belief that by participating in the Mahaarti, one’s wishes will be fulfilled as well as Pitrumoksh.
On the occasion of ‘Western Travel Mart’, weekly Mahaarti was started at Bageshwari Temple from last January 15th. Prashant Bista, Chief of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, informed that Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City will provide all possible support to conduct Maha Aarti at Bageshwari Temple.
