Hyundai Nepal organized a cleaning program under its “Be (v) the Change” campaign

Kathmandu, September 12Yesterday Hyundai Nepal organized a cleaning campaign in and around Pachali Bhairab Temple, Teku a site of archeological and religious importance, under its “Be (v) the Change” campaign. The event saw the participation of 50+ employees of the company.

The team also cleaned and painted the walls of the surrounding area as well as Shree Mahendra Saraswati Sewa Aadharbhut Vidhyalaya, a basic school serving the needs of the community around. The program was organized in coordination with the management committee of the temple and school administration to address the needs of the community pertaining to the cleanliness of the area.

Hyundai Nepal’s “Be (v) the Change “is an initiative undertaken by the company in solidarity with Hyundai Motor Company’s commitment to a sustainable future. The term Be (v) corresponds to Battery Electric Vehicles, the new norm for carbon neutrality, and thus Be (v) the change acts as a call for sustainability-focused actions for the adoption of sustainable practices at an individual and community level.

The cleaning campaign is another notable addition to the tree plantation program organized earlier in the month to compensate for the carbon footprint created by fossil fuel vehicles. Hyundai Nepal plans to organize other sustainability-focused activities under the “Be (v) the Change” initiative in days to come.

Last September, Hyundai Motor Company, the parent company of Hyundai Nepal, pledged carbon neutrality at all stages of its production and operation by 2045—five years earlier than the global carbon-neutral target of 2050. The company has been making significant investments in its journey towards carbon neutrality and plans to have 23 eco-friendly vehicle line-ups and one million electric vehicles by 2025.

This April, the company launched a global campaign, entitled the “Goal of the Century” that aims to utilize the global appeal of football to send a message and unite football lovers and others around sustainable living.
