Agreement to expeditiously address the problems
Kathmandu, July 18 : The sixth meeting of Nepal-India Oversight Mechanism today reviewed the progress made in the implementation of bilateral economic and development projects.
During the meeting held here today, the status of implementation of all ongoing bilateral projects between Nepal and India was discussed. While expressing commitment to extend all necessary facilitation to ensure smooth execution of the projects within the specified timeframe, the two sides agreed to expeditiously address the problems faced by the implementing agencies, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As agreed during the State Visit to India by the Prime Minister of Nepal in September 2016, the Nepal-India Oversight Mechanism was set up in order to take measures to implement ongoing bilateral projects within defined timeline. Cross-border rail project, integrated check post, tarai roads, crossborder transmission line and Arun III were some of the major projects that featured during the meeting today.
The seventh meeting of the mechanism will take place on a mutually convenient date.
The meeting today was co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi and Ambassador of India to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri.
