DPM Pokhrel sees need of using arable land solely for agro cultivation
Kathmandu, June 29 :Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense, Ishwor Pokhrel, has said that the government was planning to come up with a land use policy aimed at discouraging the tendency of keeping arable land barren; and using such land merely for agricultural production.
Inaugurating a rice transplantation programme organised jointly by the Youth Association Nepal (YAN) and Young Communist League (YCL) at Budhanilkantha Rural Municipality-1 here today, the minister was of the view of promoting soil’s fertility and using arable land just for agricultural cultivation.
During the three-day programme, YAN and YCL members are to provide voluntary labour for rice transplantations to take place around 700 locations, according to YAN Nepal chair Ramesh Poudel.
