Traffic Police on ‘gurjo’ planting drive
Kathmandu, Oct 31: The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has today planted the ‘gurjo’ plant on the empty space at all 44 traffic police offices as well as the Tinkune in the Kathmandu Valley. The stem of the ‘gurjo’ plant is used as medicine for curing cough and cold, including coronavirus infection. It is believed that it increases a person’s immunity power and is in vogue these days.
One thousand five hundred ‘gurjo’ plants were planted at Teenkune while five saplings were planted at each traffic police office. The plants were planted in the presence of MTPD Chief, Senior Superintendent Bhim Prasad Dhakal, Division spokesperson Superintendent Rameshwor Prasad Yadav and police persons.
On the occasion, SSP Dhakal said that attention has been given to awareness and preventive measures as the police persons who work at the frontline are at more risk of coronavirus infection. Chief of the Inland Revenue Office Lahan, Kamal Bahadur Rajalawat and Joint Secretary at the National Planning Commission, Kishor Joshi had provided the ‘gurjo’ saplings to the MTPD for planting. Rajawalat is on a campaign of planting ‘gurjo’ and has been providing the plants he has grown in his private nursery.
